Crispy baked or air-fried wings get coated in a rich honey glaze that’s glossy, garlicky, and completely addictive.

Yield 4 servings • Time 40 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs chicken wings (flats and drumettes)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 3 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp I Love Black Garlic Purée (or 3–4 peeled black garlic cloves, mashed)
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
  • ½ tsp chili flakes (optional)
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds and chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prep the wings Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) or set air fryer to 390°F (200°C). Pat wings dry and toss with olive oil, salt, and pepper.
  2. Crisp the wings Bake on a wire rack over a sheet pan for 35–40 minutes, turning halfway. For air fryer, cook 18–20 minutes, flipping once.
  3. Make the glaze In a saucepan, add honey, soy sauce, vinegar, fresh garlic, and black garlic purée. Simmer on low heat for 3–4 minutes until thickened and glossy.
  4. Coat the wings Transfer hot wings to a bowl and pour glaze over top. Toss until fully coated.
  5. Garnish and serve Sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onions. Serve hot with extra glaze on the side.

Tips and Variations

  • Air fryer shortcut: For extra crisp wings, cook at 390°F for 20 minutes and toss in glaze immediately.
  • Spicy version: Add sriracha or chili flakes for heat that balances the sweetness.
  • Grill option: Grill wings over medium heat until golden, then brush with glaze in the last few minutes.
  • Storage: Store leftover wings in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat at 350°F until warm.
