Yield 3–4 servings • Time 20 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 4 cloves fresh garlic, finely minced
  • 2 tbsp I Love Black Garlic Purée (or 3–4 peeled black garlic cloves, mashed)
  • ¼ cup white wine (or chicken broth)
  • Juice of ½ lemon
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Optional: red pepper flakes, parsley, and lemon wedges for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prep the shrimp Pat shrimp dry and season lightly with salt and pepper.
  2. Sauté garlic Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add fresh garlic and cook 30 seconds until fragrant — don’t brown it.
  3. Add black garlic Stir in black garlic purée and cook 1 minute, letting it melt into the butter base.
  4. Cook shrimp Add shrimp in a single layer. Cook 1–2 minutes per side until pink and opaque. Remove shrimp and set aside.
  5. Deglaze Add wine and lemon juice to the pan. Simmer 2 minutes, scraping up any bits for extra flavor.
  6. Combine Return shrimp to the pan and toss in sauce for 1–2 minutes to coat evenly.
  7. Finish Garnish with parsley and red pepper flakes. Serve hot with pasta, rice, or crusty bread.

Tips and Variations

  • Make it creamy: Add a splash of heavy cream or a spoonful of mascarpone at the end for a richer sauce.
  • No wine? Substitute with chicken or vegetable broth and an extra squeeze of lemon.
  • Vegan version: Use vegan butter and king oyster mushrooms instead of shrimp.
  • Storage: Keeps 2 days refrigerated. Reheat gently over low heat.
